Dr. Ralph Crew has been an ophthalmologist for 15 years. He received his medical education at Ohio University. After an internship in Detroit, he spent 4 years as a general practitioner prior to entering an ophthalmology residency in Columbus, Ohio at Doctor's Hospital. He completed his education with an additional year of fellowship training in glaucoma and cataract surgery at the University of Michigan. He is a member of such professional organizations as the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Michigan Ophthalmologic Society. Dr. Crew received his board certification in 1992. Actively involved in overseas medical missions, he has made many trips to third world countries where he performs eye surgery. | |

Dr. Julie Boss, a board certified ophthalmologist, joined Crew Eye Center in 2002 and became a partner in February 2008. She received her medical education from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and then went on to complete her residency in ophthalmology at Doctor's Hospital in Columbus. She specializes in no stitch cataract surgery including premium intraocular lenses. In addition, Dr. Boss performs lid surgeries and offers Botox treatments. She is a member of many professional organizations such as the American Osteopathic Association, the AOCOO and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Boss, her husband and 2 young sons live locally and enjoy spending time in outdoor activities. |

Dr. Deana Platz completed her education at the Michigan College of Optometry. Dr. Platz has been practicing in Big Rapids since 1998. She is a member of the Michigan Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association and the West Michigan Optometric Association. Dr. Platz strives to bring her patients the most comprehensive and advanced optometric treatment available. Dr. Platz welcomes patients at our Big Rapids and Howard City office. | |

Dr. Mandy Russell is an optometrist who has been with Crew Eye Center since 2005. She completed her education at the Michigan College of Optometry. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Michigan Optometric Association. Dr. Russell specializes in family eye care including contact lenses. |

Dr. Thomas Aaberg is board certified in ophthalmology and has extensive training in retinal diseases and ocular tumors. After completing his medical training, Dr. Aaberg became the director of the Ocular Oncology Unit at Emory University, the Director of Ocular Photography and Ultrasonography and the Atlanta Veterans Administration Hospital’s Retina Service Director. He has been an investigator in twenty clinical trials, authored over thirty peer reviewed articles and written seven text book chapters. He received an achievement award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2008. | |

Dr. Scott Westhouse is a native of Dorr, Michigan. Following completion of his undergraduate training at Calvin College and medical school training at Michigan State University, he ventured to Oklahoma and Kentucky to complete his residency and fellowship training. Dr. Westhouse is board certified in ophthalmology and completed a two year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the University of Kentucky. He has participated in research investigating therapies for age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. |
